American headquarters and JamdiggyJamaican roots pushing an international sound: Layers to a worldly idea by one Nick Walker as the DancehallUSA founder has launched his new music label, Jamdiggy Records.
Based in South Florida, Jamdiggy was launched in September and has already garnered strong mainstream attention after one of its acts, Vision Alexander reached the top five of Billboard magazine’s Hot Singles Sales chart with his single, Right Time (featuring Jemere Morgan). The label also features internationally acclaimed producer, JonFX, known for producing smash hits such as I Can Feel Your Pain and Hold You (both for Gyptian) as well as for acts such as Vybz Kartel, Mavado, Ce’Cile and, most recently, Renegade by up-and-comer, Sade Serena on the the Jamdiggy label.
This a culmination of over a decade of hard work by Walker, who got his break into the music industry through working with esteemed blues artist, Joe Bonamassa and his management team, Roy Weisman and Eliot Weisman who also managed classical artists such Frank Sinatra, the Rat Pack, Liza Minelli and Steve Lawrence to name a few. According to Walker, this label is the first leg of the brand he plans to reveal over time and, armed with this knowledge, has finally decided to unveil his vision to the world
“It was with these mentors (where) I was able the grasp and understand the entire blueprint of the harsh cold music business,” he said. “With continued success in these genres, I felt as if I needed to achieve the same with my own genre – Reggae. Well, why not? I had all the tools
Walker explained that Jamdiggy’s focus will primarily be on crossover music, through reggae and reggae pop and plans to grow the label in the coming weeks and months with more artists, producers, disc jockeys and journalists as he aims to make the brand a serious player to contend with in 2016.
“We are relatively new and If you know me, I’m a strategic person, I have the game plan all laid out, I’m just handpicking the members of my Super Bowl team,” he intimated. “We have some out of the box collabs on file that we can’t wait to release, but in time. Picture Michael Jackson meets Bob Marley, – dem levels deh. We’re not afraid of testing boundaries and breaking barriers.”
Currently, the label is working on the video for Right Time as well as the EP for Vision, both set to drop very soon and plans drop the second leg of the Jamdiggy brand, plans he will elaborate on soon once things are finalized.
